The City of Sidney is closely monitoring forecasts provided by the National Weather Service for this storm and is taking the necessary measures in order to be prepared for this storm.
The City uses a Snow Alert to provide our residents information that we may likely be issuing a “Snow Emergency” in the near future. Based on current forecasts the City of Sidney may issue a Snow Emergency either later today or early on Saturday morning. Residents are asked to stay tuned to local media sources for future alerts from the City or the National Weather Service.
As a reminder, the declaration of a Snow Emergency requires that all vehicles shall be removed from the City’s Emergency Snow Routes and remain off of the streets until the declaration is over. Residents living on any of the City’s Emergency Snow Routes may wish to take a proactive approach and remove their vehicles prior to the issuance of a Snow Emergency. This will allow the police department to focus on other critical duties rather than removing vehicles from the Emergency Snow Routes. A map of the Emergency Snow Routes is on the City’s website at www.cityofsidney.org and click on the map button on the left side of the home page.
