[ARCHIVED] Park Department to Begin Puncture Burning

NOTIFICATION
PARK DEPT. BURNING PUNCTURE VINE ON CITY PROPERTY

(WEDNESDAY MARCH 21 TO FRIDAY MARCH 30, 2018)

NOTICE: On Wednesday, March 21st, 2018, weather and schedules permitting, the City of Sidney Parks Department will begin a controlled burn to remove puncture vine stickers from the open space between the tee-ball fields and the Aquatic Center lawns.  In addition, a strip will be burned along the un-irrigated portion of the walking trail where puncture vine is known to... exist.

The Parks Department will acquire a burn permit from the Fire Department and follow permitting guidelines.

Conditions permitting, the project will be completed before Friday March 30th, 2018.

PREPARATION: Parks personnel will have a water tank with pressurized spray wand for controlling the burn.

CAUTION: The Parks Department will typically burn between the hours of 7:30 am – 3:30 pm, as weather and schedules permit.  Smoke will be limited as the material is already mowed to a shortened height.  Those persons with respiratory restrictions residing close to the City Aquatic Center, Tee-ball Fields, and Walking Trails should stay indoors with windows closed during the localized burning.

APPRECIATION:   The Parks Department & City would like to Thank You for your cooperation during this temporary inconvenience.  If you would like more information please contact the Parks Department at (308)-254-3307, or the City Office at (308) 254-5300.
