We had 14.5 inches of heavy snow. The City of Sidney Street department maintains approximately 204 lane-miles, which is the equivalent of sweeping, moving snow and general maintenance on one lane of Interstate 80 to Cheyenne, Wyoming and back, not including having to work around cars, curbs and other obstacles. The Street Department has 15 pieces of equipment of which only ten clear snow and 7 full time employees. Other Departments have come together with the street department to help in the removal process. We appreciate the city employees who worked long hours to try to make streets passable.
There was frustration at times, but everyone worked together to get the job done. We will continue clean-up and removal of snow. The City of Sidney has appreciated the cooperation and patience of residents during the snow cleanup.
