They are demanding delinquent utility payments be made immediately over the phone or utilities would be shut-off. The scammers use a demanding, threatening and insistent tone in the calls.
The phone number that the scam is calling from is 1-800-425-4970 according to the city. The City has tried to call the number back. When they answer, they claim to be from the billing/disconnect department. Once they are told that the City of Sidney is the one calling, they hang up.
The City of Sidney has had similar scams in the past.
