The Sidney Volunteer Fire Department was organized in 1879 and is governed by 2 different entities:

  • City of Sidney's City Council
  • Rural Fire Board of Sidney Rural Fire District #1

Personnel

The department currently has 46 members, of which 11 are EMTs.

Administration

The department administration consists of:

  • A fire chief
  • 2 assistant fire chiefs
  • 2 lieutenants
  • 2 captains and a rescue officer

Protection Area / Apparatus

The Sidney Fire Department serves a population of 7,960 in a 284-square-mile area with the following equipment:

  • 3 Quick Attack Grass Rigs
  • 2 Engines
  • 2 Tankers
  • 1 Utility Truck
  • 1 Rescue Truck
  • 1 Quad Agent Truck
  • 1 Platform Truck
