Welcome! Sidney, Nebraska was named one of the Top 100 Rural Communities in America by national economist Jack Schultz this decade! We have more jobs per capita than any community in Nebraska and rank in the top 10 in America! Our wage per capita income ranks in the top five counties in our state. Sidney and our Cheyenne County neighboring communities have built this strong economy with home grown and recruited industries to go along with our agriculture roots and heritage. We sit at the crossroads of America with four major highways and three railroads. We are the logistics hub of the Midwest. The thing that makes us special is our people. People with values. People who care about their children’s future. People who approved the newest high school in Nebraska that opened in 2009. People who invest in a safe community. People who welcome others to join with them in building a future in a quality of life community in America’s heartland. The grassroots standards that built America are still here. Small Town Values, Big Time Opportunities! A place you can be proud to call “home”.

The City of Sidney Parks Department will begin the Sunday night mosquito spraying program for 2010 on July 18. People wanting to be on the “NO SPRAY” list can contact the City Office at 254-5300 and leave their name and address. The sprayer truck travels on alternating streets making its way through town. The entire process takes three hours from 7:30 am to 10:30 am. Weather permitting, spraying will continue on Sunday nights into early September if needed. |
